MUSEUMS OF TOUCH

The project is named "by Touch Museum"It is nothing improvised or left to chance but is the result of an experiment lasted 5 years and has promoted the multi-sensory relationship with artNot only for the blind and deaf but to increase empathy with the work of art for everyone.

If museums from the beginning Tap involved the 4 museums of the Civic Museums System (MACRO, Museum of Rome, the Modern Art Gallery and the Napoleonic Museum), today the network is spreading like wildfire.

in Capitoline Museums you can explore by touch some sculptures and approach to architecture through various aids tiflodidattici, ie plastic and scale models of buildings and monuments, tactile thermoformed panels in relief and braille books in black and braille of works from the collection.

In Museum of Casal de 'Pazzi, for lovers of prehistoric archeology, I'm leaving two paths: the first, for the hearing impaired, resulting in the dubbing in LIS and in the creation of subtitles for all the Museum's media and one for the blind which will use four plastic reconstructive located in the garden area and that of the internal field. These environmental reconstructions can be touched by the visitor who will rely on the way, the audio notes of support tablets.

A new entry in this virtuoso roundup of the capital is the project Art for the blind, Opened on March 14, sponsored by Roma Capitale - Department of Cultural Growth - Superintendent Capitolina Cultural Heritage with the collaboration of Antenna – Connecting the world to culture.

The innovative project of its kind, is designed specifically by and for the blind and visually impaired to the Ara Pacis Museum; users will have access to the extraordinary heritage of the museum and get in touch (in the true sense of the word) with del'Urbe mythical past, the history and the altar of Augustus through a new and special multi-sensory exploration.

A route in six points allow visitors to hear a description of the Campus Martius area as it appeared at the time of Augustus to know the characters of the imperial family and, later, thanks to Ara model, exploring the different architectural segments monument as well as the mother earth panels, the processions, the Goddess Roma and Sacrifice of Aeneas.

All this is possible thanks to an innovative technology, it realized with the technical support of Tooteko - Talking Tactile e SIFI with museum services Zètema Culture Project:

The innovative technology behind the project: a ring with special sensors applied alongside the works starts descriptive audio information of each of the museum treasure.

Not only a tablet, with audio notes recounts anecdotes and stories related to the operating segments activated; a thermoform (A tactile map created in collaboration with the Institute of the Blind of Milan) gives information security (eg. Physical obstacles) and drive to the location of the audio-tactile works, for greater autonomy within the museum.
